Torque Converter

An internal combustion engine, for example, serves as the prime mover in a torque converter, which transmits rotating power to a rotating driven load. The torque converter joins the power source and the load in a car with an automatic transmission. It typically sits between the transmission and the flexplate of the engine. In a manual transmission, the mechanical clutch would be the corresponding place.
